How to Apply for College of Sciences Scholarships
Scholarships for Majors and Students being advised in the College of Sciences:
Undergraduate students wishing to apply for College of Sciences scholarships
1. The application may be submitted online or may be printed out and submitted in person to the Office of the Dean, Morrill Hall, Room 208. Whether you submit online or with a hard copy, your major department will also receive a copy.
Deadline: Forms must be received by January 31, 2009.
2. Fill out the College of Sciences Scholarship Application Form to apply for both scholarships offered by your major department and by the College of Sciences. Be sure to indicate your major or intended major on the application form.
3. Some scholarships give preference to students with financial need. Financial need can be demonstrated either by submitting a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form (see A below) or by submitting a budget (see B below).
a. Complete and submit a FAFSA form to the Office of student Financial Aid in Lighty Hall, Room 380. Submission to WSU is also easily made online at the FAFSA website: www.fafsa.ed.gov.
b. Prepare and submit a budget showing your estimated expenses and income for the next academic year.
All information will be kept confidential.
Your budget must show your estimated expenses and income. See page 4 of the application form.
Expenses: Itemize all anticipated expenses such as tuition, fees, books, room, board, insurance premiums, loan payments, car expenses, and miscellaneous needs (clothing, entertainment, laundry, and personal items).
Income: Itemize all anticipated resources such as parental assistance, savings, summer and part-time jobs, financial aid grants, student loans or work study awards, scholarships, etc.
When will I know if I receive an
award?
You will be contact by the department that received your
application (chosen by major) in March.
